Northeast Baalbek is classified as one of the most vulnerable communities in Lebanon. It has a semi-arid climate and agriculture is the main economic sector in the area. Access to drought tolerant seedlings can help farmers cope with the environment while maintaining good productivity and save them money.
his project consists of improving the productivity of vegetables in Baalbeck-Hermel by increasing access to grafted seedlings. CWB operates a nursery in the area producing regular seedling with an average production of 3 million unit/ per year. It is proposing to establish a professional grafting room to offer an affordable service to more than 700 farmers.
