Mejdel el Koura Women’s Cooperative was established by the municipality in 2012, with the aim of collaborating to support their families and develop the community economically, as well as providing employment opportunities. The cooperative participates in local summer festivals, shows and markets, and is actively researching possibilities for exporting internationally. The cooperative makes a variety of traditional local products including juice, pickles, dried fruit and herbs, orange blossom water, rose water and arak. SEAL purchased equipment including juicers, herb mills, keshik machine, fruit drier, jam press, cutters and a generator.
